An early look at homes along Buccaneer Boulevard and the beachfront in the days immediately following the storm.

Christine Reel entered Pirates Beach as one of the early participants in the “Look & Leave” program. She photographed homes along the 4200 block of Buccaneer Boulevard, nearby streets, and beachfront houses to the east and west.

Damage appeared significant but was mainly concentrated on the ground floor. The upper levels of many houses appeared structurally sound, while homes nearer the beach also showed damage to driveways and foundations.
