Catherine Anne Clayton Pagel and Brian Turner Ross were united in marriage on Friday, December 23, 2005 at half after seven o'clock in the evening at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas. The wedding date held special significance as the groom's parents, maternal grandparents and maternal great-grandparents were married on the same date in 1968, 1935 and 1901, respectively. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Canon Edward L. Stein. Music was provided by organist Robert L. Simpson, trumpeter Dr. Daniel W. Shipman and soloist Stephanie Lynn Gibson. Reader of the Holy Scripture was Ellen Engstrom Porter. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at River Oaks Country Club with music provided by Klockwork. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Petroleum Club of Houston. A bridal luncheon, hosted by Janet Gibson, Immy Hill and Sybil Turner, was held at the Hotel Icon. The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Melvin Pagel. She is the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Paul Fagan and the late Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Louis Pagel. The groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Rex Carroll Ross. He is the grandson of Mrs. Nelson Clegg Turner and the late Mr. Nelson Clegg Turner and the late Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Merwin Ross. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected an exquisite couture gown designed exclusively for her by Monique Lhuillier. The strapless bodice was fashioned of ivory silk French reembroidered Alencon lace and the dropped-waist full skirt was draped tulle. Her waistline was accented by a satin sash that was tied and adorned with an antique brooch. To complement her gown the bride wore a sheer illusion cathedral veil, embellished with scattered Swarovski crystals, that cascaded beyond the gown's chapel length train. The bridal party wore black charmeuse Lazaro gowns. The strapless gowns featured tiered skirts and were accented by fuchsia sashes tied and fastened with crystal brooches. Jill Catherine Gibson served as Maid of Honor and Catherine Ann Winship served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Ann Bowman, Ashley Lahourcade Cruse, Caroline Lockett Curtis, Katherine Upton Daily, Christine Susan Pagel, sister-in-law of the bride, Meredith McCarty Riddle, Stacey Suzann Scardino, Melissa Anne Waldrop, Jennifer Livesay Webster and Katherine Ruth Williams. The flower girl was Grace Isabel Turner, cousin of the groom. Rex Carroll Ross, Jr. served his brother as Best Man. Groomsmen were Brian Daniel Barrow, Samuel William Cruse III, Jason Patrick Dillee, Casey Lamar Ford, Christiaan Jonas Graf, Thomas Carter Pagel, brother of the bride, Louis Monroe Pearce IV, Christopher Rowan Pitts, Carl Stevens White II, Stephen Michael Wright and Forrest Jacob Wynn. The ring bearer was Noah James Folan, nephew of the bride. He carried a pillow made of silk and lace from the wedding gowns of the groom's grandmother, mother and the bride's mother. Members of the House Party included Adrienne Marie Bouchard, Adrienne Kathleen Flack, Kathleen Dunwoody Graf, Loren Gray McElmurry, Samantha Ann Mundinger, Kristy Gipson Parker, Ellen Engstrom Porter, Sara Tinsley Ratliff, Alison Bush Strelitz, Lauren Korsmeier Swann, Blythe Martindale Whittenburg and Sarah Pritchett Wittenbraker. Serving as Ushers were Stephen Monteith Clarke II, Brian Lee Dinerstein, Jonathan Wells Filgo, Henry Cline Glasgow, Jr., Scott Parker Goforth, Francis Patrick Hadlock IV, Christopher Michael Harrison, Bradley McMahon Kirklin, Charles Wyatt-Brown Neuhaus, Captain John Matthew Simms and Jeffrey Powell Zarr. Catie is a graduate of Stratford High School. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She is currently employed with Trees For Houston. Brian is a graduate of the Kinkaid School. He received his bachelor's degree in the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Harvard Law School. He is currently employed with Gibbs & Bruns, LLP. Following their honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple now resides in Houston, Texas.
